One of the noteworthy developments in the Guidance Office and Testing Center (GOTC) is the acquisition of new tests namely Bar-on Emotional Quotient Inventory: Short Version (BarOn- EQ:SV), Career Occupational Evaluation Survey (COPES) and Study Attitudes and Methods Survey (SAMS) with test manuals, booklets, scoring keys and profile sheets. These tests will replace the Brainard Occupational Aptitude Inventory (BOPI) and Student Study Habits and Attitudes (SSHA) which are obsolete. The Guidance Office and Testing Center (GOTC) has been generating income every semester from test administration, scoring, analyzing and interpreting psychological tests for SMU students and extension testing services to government and private schools and organizations/agencies. As such, these new psychological test materials have been purchased.

This school year, the GOTC staff administered, scored and analyzed the SMU CAAT, BOPI and SSHA for the freshmen. The Bar-on EQ Inventory: Short Version will be administered to Sophomores on September 1-9. 2209; 16 Personality Factors (PF) on October 5-9, 2009 for the Juniors; and Work Orientation Survey (WOS) and SLU Emotional Quotient (EQ) on November 23- December 4, 2009 for the Seniors. The result of these psychological tests on the top of the data culled from the Personal Data Inventory (PDI) will tremendously help the guidance counselors identify and address students' concern through counseling and Group Guidance Sessions. Miss Rona Ria A. Obispo, MAED-GED has been in-carge of the testing service and designated as university psychometrician.

The results of the tests will be interpreted to the students during the 'Intake Interview' which will commence on September 3, 2009. the guidance counselors will also accommodate referral case aside from walk-in counselees.
