Prior to the implementation of Section 36 (c) “Random Drug Testing for Tertiary Students of Article III of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 202, the CHED Regional Office 02 held a one-day orientation/conference on “Conduct of Random Drug Testing” in public and private colleges and universities on October 2, 2009 at Saint Ferdinand College, Ilagan, Isabela. To show its support to the government through the instruction of the President of the Republic of the Philippines to intensify anti-drug abuse campaign and random drug testing and affirmed its mission-vision, Saint Mary’s University sent 6 representatives to the conference namely; Dr. Marilyn P. Perolina, Dean of Women, Mr. Remegio M. Cantong Jr., Dean of Men, Mr. Sherwin A. Marciano, Faculty Member, School of Education, Mrs. Lorvin M. Adducul, Head, Guidance Office, Dr. Roscoe Gacusana, In-charge, Drugs, Guidance Office, and Mr. Juni P. Caligue, Faculty Member, Criminology Department. During the conference, Mr. Ernesto Lacerna, Public Information Officer of PDEA Region shared the success and pitfalls of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Dra. Tita Callueng, OIC, Office of the Director IV, Department of Health through her representative spoke on the Random Drug Test Procedures and Treatment of Results and Administrative Concerns and Responsibilities.
