SMU Professional Education Department leads 2nd Student Teachers’ Congress

To equip the future teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills for the use of different strategies and assessment techniques in the implementation of the K-12 curriculum, the Professional Education Department, in collaboration with the Student Teacher’s Organization and the Young Educators’ Club organized the 2nd Student Teachers’ Congress with the theme, “Trends and Updates on the New Curriculum for the K to 12 Basic Education Program (Grade 2 and Grade 8)”, done on August 3, 2013 at Sacred Heart Center. Three hundred student teachers and Professional Education eachers from different Teacher-Education Institutions within the province of Nueva Vizcaya and Ifugao attended the said academic activity. Dr. Samuel Soliven, Regional Education Supervisor, Edukasyon sa Pagapakatao, Department of Education, Region 02,Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, lectured about the K to 12 Basic Education Program during the morning session. Dr. Salem introduces the invited speakers for the parallel session.

(MAPEH), Mrs. Joanne Grace G. Dacumos (MAPEH), Mrs. Marilyn D. Castillo (Filipino) and Mrs. Leonora
A. Gacayan and Mr. Arnel M. Batalla (Gen. Ed). In addition, faculty members who were handling
courses on teaching strategies along their chosen field of specialization, were also invited to give
updates on new teaching strategies and new assessment procedures required by the new curriculum.
