Freshman Tourism Student Second Placer in the “Lakbay 2014”

Tour Guiding Competition

Ms. Beverly Babes C. Jallorina, a freshman Tourism Management student placed second among higher year contestants during the “Lakbay 2014” provincial tour guiding competition held on September 24, 2014.

The tour guiding competition started at the People’s Museum and Library then moved with a rolling tour towards the historical Balete Pass in Sta. Fe. After which, the group came back at the museum for this facility’s tour to include the nearby St. Dominic Cathedral.

The judges for this competition were: Mr. Rodolfo Agner from LGU Bambang, Ms. Agnes Gonzales, the Tourism Officer of LGU Bayombong, and the Saniata ti Nueva Vizcaya 2014 1st Runner-up Ms. Femy Ariola. The contestants were evaluated with the following criteria: (1) Communication and public speaking skills; fluency in English – 30%; (2) Knowledge / mastery on information; accuracy of facts / info – 30%; (3) Personality & techniques in delivering tour guiding skills – 25%; and (4) Over-all impact and presentation – 15%.

The two Marians were coached by Mayvelyn S. Covita and Precious May C. Gacusana.

Moreover, sophomore Tourism student Yumiko Angelius M. Yoshiy is fourth placer in the earlier held Provincial Tourism Quiz Bee on September 16, 2014 at the Ammungan Hall.   The quiz focused on national and regional history, culture, geography, general information, current events and national and local tourism.

These two events as spearheaded by the Provincial Tourism Office were one among the highlights in preparation for the National Tourism Week celebration that culminates on the last week of September.
