A meeting on CHED Updates for Business Education Cluster (BSBA, BSHRM, BSTM, BSA, BSAcT, BS Entrep, BSOA, BSCA, BPA) was called by CHED on November 26, 2015 at Saint Paul University Philippines, Tuguegarao City. Saint Mary’s University representatives to this meeting were: Mrs. Elnora V. Adalem, BA Dep’t. Head; Mrs. Mayvelyn S. Covita, HTM Dep’t. Head; Mrs. Evangeline A. Marata, Office Admin. Coordinator; and Mrs. Dorilyn C. Tiongson, representative for the Accountancy Dep’t. Head.
The Outline of Updates/Topics Discussed with details are presented:
A. K to 12. In here, an introduction or rationale of the K to 12 implementation for the School Year 2016-2017 was presented. Born from RA 10533 or the Enhanced Basic Education Act, the K to 12 program definitely will provide great effects to HEIs and SUCs. These include impact on faculty and staff, and on College Programs. Thus, the CHED as part of its programs, present plans for development packages in the form of Scholarships for graduate studies. An allotted budget for 800 masterate and 7000 for doctorate are in placed.
Development grants for faculty and staff include: training, research and development, community service and extension, industry immersion, production and IGP, and SHS (Senior High School Mentoring).
Faculty and Staff who remain in HEIs are allotted a mix of 96 units consumable.
In addition, innovation grants for institutions (for levels 3-4 accredited programs)

Upcoming CMOs (Policy for SUCs in opening of SHS; CHED’s support to SHS implementation during the transition period to include development of SHS materials and teacher training)
B. Reiteration in the Implementation of CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 17 Series of 2012. Action plan reflecting educational tours should be submitted a month before the start of opening of classes. Moreover, necessary documents on the checklist from the CMO has to be submitted a month before the conduct of the tour (for example, documents for a planned tour on October 30, 2015, 2015 should be submitted on September 30).
C. CHED Updates and Initiative. There will be a public hearing on December 9, 2015 on the Revised Guidelines for SIAP (Student Internship Abroad Program) for all programs. In addition, CMO No. 26, S 2015 on the Policies, Guidelines and Procedures on International Educational Trips (IET) of Undergraduate and Graduate Students will be released soon.
D. Training of Teacher in the Implementation of CMO No. 6, Series of 2012. Schedule of training is on November 23 to December 1, 2015.
E. Availability of Kiosk for our students to search for possible employment online is ready for invitation to other provinces in the region, provided coordination is made to CHED- R02 office.
