School of Health Sciences is Top 9 Nursing School Nationwide based on Nurse Licensure Examination Results from 2004-2008

For a consistent outstanding performance in the Nurse Licensure Examination from 2004-2008, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognized Saint Mary's University School of Health Sciences as one of the top twenty (20) nursing schools in the country. SMU is the top 9 performing school based on CHED's recently-released data for schools with more than 1,000 examinees within the same period.

For school years 2004 to 2008, SMU-SHS posted an average of 84% passing rate against the national passing rate of 45%.

Every five (5) years, the CHED releases the standing of nursing schools based on their 5-year average performance on licensure examinations. In 2005, SMU School of Health Sciences, was ranked as the tenth top performing nursing schools in the country based on nurse licensure examinations from 2000 to 2004. That time, SMU-SHS was categorized as a medium-sized nursing school.

The recognition SMU School of Health Sciences had received for an exemplary performance in the nurse licensure examinations for the past 10 years reflects the quality of nursing education that the university provides. From its humble beginnings as the smallest department in 1994 to the largest department at present, the SMU of Health Sciences has proven through the years that it has truly been instrumental in the realization of the university's vision and mission of producing competent Marian professionals.
