SMU Faculty Members Meet Nursing Theorist Dr. Jean Watson

The Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing Inc. (ADPCN Inc.) and the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc. College of Nursing (UERMMMCI) presented the Nursing Conference on Jean Watson’s Caring Theory last December 14, 2010 at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel. The said convention was graced by Dr. Jean Watson, a distinguished professor of nursing at the University of Colorado, Denver. It was attended by nurses all over the Philippines representing the three fields of the nursing profession namely nursing practice, nursing education and nursing research. The Philosophy and Science of Caring and its Implication to Nursing Education and Service, Towards a Caring Curriculum: the New Pedagogy for Nursing and the Ethics of Care and the Ethics of Cure were the main topics of the convention. In every topic, Philippines’ experts in nursing education, nursing administration and nursing research gave their reactions pointing out the applicability of the Watson’s key concepts in their fields.

Saint Mary’s University (SMU), one of the premier nursing schools in Region 02 responded to the need to update herfaculty members by participating in the said the event.
