School of Health Sciences Dean Speaks at the 3rd Regional Nursing Congress

Dean Jhordin James C. Montegrico, RN, MSN of the School of Health Sciences, was one of the speakers at the Third Regional Nursing Congress held last February 18-19, 2009 at the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines, Penablanca, Cagayan. With the theme “Nurses Towards the Challenges of Global Nursing Practice”, Dean Montegrico dealt on three topics, namely: Trends and Challenges in International Nursing Education and Nursing Practice, Effective Test-taking Skills for the Nurse Licensure Examination, and the PRC Board of Nursing’s Core Competencies: Framework for the Nurse Licensure Examination.

The conference was graced by Dr. Virginia Resurreccion, Director of the Commission of Higher Education Region II, Dr. Tita Callueng, Asst. Regional Director, Department of Health Region II, Dean Borromeo of Far Eastern University Institute of Nursing and other consultants from St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Among the all-male SMU delegation were Meyer Tominez, RN, faculty member, and four nursing students led by the Marian Health Sciences Student Council president Stephen Humiwat.

On a similar note, Dean Montegrico was also one of the speakers during the 6th Regional Convention of the Philippine Nurses Association held last year in Gonzaga, Cagayan.
