DOT Region 2 & SMU-HTM conduct seminar on Filipino Brand of Service Excellence
The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2 successfully conducted the 2-day Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) seminar, under the leadership of Dr. Troy Alexander G. Miano, LPT, CESE III and the guidance of regional trainer Ms. Fanibeth T. Domingo, former DOT Regional Director, commitment and collaboration of the Junior Tourism and Hospitality Management Association of the Philippines (JTHMAP) – SMU Chapter officers.
The seminar was marked by an atmosphere of enthusiasm and eagerness. Participants actively engaged in a series of role-playing activities, group workshops, and interactive demonstrations that fostered an enriching and dynamic learning environment. The program covered a wide range of essential topics, enhancing participants’ understanding of the Philippine tourism industry and reinforcing the distinct values that define the Filipino brand of service.
Creativity, collaboration, and a true spirit of hospitality were evident as the seminar unfolded. Recognitions such as Best Actor, Best Actress, Best in Mabuhay and Salamat Gesture, and Most Active Participant were awarded, celebrating individuals who exemplified exceptional enthusiasm and performance.
The initiative powerfully embodied the 3 I’s of SMU-HTM: it INSPIRED participants to embrace Filipino hospitality with heartfelt passion, motivating them to become future role models in the tourism and hospitality industry; INNOVATED the learning experience by introducing creative and interactive methods of delivering service excellence that met the evolving demands of global travelers; and INFLUENCED participants by empowering them to champion Filipino values, professionalism, and genuine service, shaping communities and future workplaces with integrity and heart.
Aligned with the United Nations Tourism’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the seminar directly supported Quality Education (SDG 4) by providing transformative and industry-relevant training, and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) by equipping future professionals with the skills necessary for a service-driven economy.
Participants left not only equipped with new knowledge and skills but also with a renewed pride in their role as future ambassadors of Filipino service excellence. The FBSE Seminar stood as a testament to the power of collaboration, passion, and purpose, leaving a lasting impact on every participant as they prepared to take their next steps toward becoming the future pillars of the tourism and hospitality industry.
Indeed, SMU-HTM is true to its mission and will always be driven by excellence.
