Project INSPIRE Highlights Faculty Research Proposals and WEALTH Research Utilization

The University successfully conducted the Project INSPIRE Research Proposal and Faculty Research Utilization Activity on March 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Aula Maria. The one-day event brought together faculty researchers from various academic units to present research proposals under Project INSPIRE and showcase completed studies for use under Project WEALTH, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to research excellence and meaningful community impact.
The program began with registration, followed by an opening prayer led by Mrs. Geraldine Y. Ferreras, SHaNS Nursing Research Coordinator. This was followed by the opening remarks and statement of objectives delivered by Miss Rhodora M. Aquino, University Statistician, who emphasized that Project INSPIRE is designed to create lasting impact in communities and beyond. The initiative introduces a more structured and strategic approach to research from design development to publication and sustainable utilization.
In outlining the objectives, Miss Aquino highlighted the importance of providing faculty researchers with opportunities to present proposed programs and research projects aligned with the SMU INSPIRE framework. The activity also aimed to evaluate the quality, relevance, and feasibility of proposed studies in terms of their potential for publication, sustainability, and utilization. Moreover, it ensured alignment with faculty expertise, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and institutional priority areas such as innovation and social responsibility, while offering a venue for constructive feedback from evaluators and peers.

The panel of evaluators, introduced by Miss Gerene-Leigh C. Almazan, SEAIT Research Coordinator, included Dr. Rommel S. de Garcia, Dr. Marianne C. Eugenio, and Dr. Florence N. Bahni. The panel played a crucial role in providing comments and recommendations for the improvement of faculty research proposals presented under Project INSPIRE.
The presentation proper featured a total of 24 faculty research proposals under Project INSPIRE. In addition, 7 faculty members presented their research utilization initiatives under Project WEALTH, demonstrating how completed studies have been applied in instruction, extension, and institutional practices.
The program was facilitated by Mrs. Angela C. Garra, SAB Research Coordinator, who served as the master of ceremonies and ensured the smooth flow of the activity.
Overall, the activity served as a valuable platform for scholarly exchange, collaboration, and professional growth among faculty members. By strengthening both research development and utilization, the University continues to foster a culture of innovation, sustainability, and socially responsive research.
