Documentary Requirements for Incoming First Year Students, Transferees and Refreshers

For online enrollment, kindly send SCANNED copies of these requirements to docs_law@smu.edu.ph for initial evaluation and bring the same upon in campus enrollment. 

Here are the requirements for admission to our College of Law:

A.) For SMU Graduates who DID NOT ENROLL in other schools (HEI)

1) Photocopy of OTR indicating date of Graduation
2) Photocopy of PSA Birth Certificate
3) Photocopy of PSA Marriage Certificate (for married female students)
4) 1 pc 2×2 id picture with white background
5) duly accomplished SMU CL Form 1

B.) For SMU graduates who enrolled in other school(either for graduate studies, second course or continuing education) and graduate of other schools (HEI)

1) Transfer credentials from last school attended
2) Original copy of PSA Birth Certificate
3) Original copy of PSA Marriage Cetificat (for married female students)
4) 1 pc 2×2 id picture with white background
5) duly accomplished SMU CL Form 1

Please take note that enrolles are not allowed to enroll in two (2) HEI’s simultaneously.

*Transferees are subject to GWA Evaluation and Interview.

For Refreshers:

1.) Certified True Copy of your LATEST OTR
2.) 1 Original copy and 1 Photocopy of your PSA generated Birth Certificate
3.) Photocopy of your PSA generated Marriage Certificate (for married female students) 
4.) 1 pc each- 1×1 and 2×2 ID picture

Academic Requirements

Under Section 6, Rule 138 of the Revised Rules of Court, DECS Order No. 46, Series of 1987, and Section 16 of LEB Memorandum Order (LEBMO) No. 1, Series of 2011, any holder of a four-year Bachelor’s degree may be admitted to the regular Law course provided that he has earned

  •  at least 18 units in English (Language and
    Literature);
  • at least 18 units in Social Sciences (Humanities, Philosophy, Basic Economics with Taxation and Agrarian Reform, General Psychology, Politics and
    Governance with Philippine Constitution, Society and Culture with Family Planning, and other mandated subjects such as Life and Works of Rizal,
    and Philippine History); and
  • at least 6 units in Mathematics.

Those who cannot meet the above requirements are allowed to complete their deficiencies during midyear classes (not regular semesters) in the College of Law. This is in consonance with Section 16, Rule 138 of the Revised Rules of Court; DECS Order No. 46, Series of 1987; and Section 16 of LEB Memorandum Order No. 1, Series of 2011 which laid down the basic admission requirements for law studies in the Philippines, to wit, completion of a baccalaureate degree with a least 18 units in English, at least 18 units in Social Sciences, and at least six units in Mathematics.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE FOR ADMISSIONS AND ENROLMENT

Students who are enrolling for the first time (including new college graduates with Special Order (SO), or transferees from other law schools) should see the Office of the Dean of College of Law or visit www.smu.edu.ph for the admission requirements. 

A. For New Students and Transferees

A.1  In-Campus/Walk-in Enrolment

Step 1: Guidance and Testing Office

        • Takes the Entrance Exam

Step 2:  Go to SMU website by typing www.smu.edu.ph in your internet browser.

        • Click “esmis-School Management Information System”
        • Select and click program/course to enroll
        • Read SMU Data Privacy Policy and click “accept”
        • Fill-out the online admission form and attach pictures of entrance credentials, then click “submit”.
        • Check your email for the approved subjects, assessed fees and payment options.

Step 3: Office of the Dean of College of Law

        • Submits hard copies of all required documents for admission
        • Passes the interview with the Dean

Step 4: Treasury and Accounting Office

        • Gets queuing number 
        • Settles the school fees at the Cashier’s window

Step 5: Office of the University Registrar (OUR) or any designated place during enrollment period

        • Prints the Student Copy and Registrar’s Copy of enrolment form

Step 6: SMUNet Office or any designated place for ID processing

        • Presents copy of enrolment form
        • Waits turn for picture taking for school ID   

A.2  Online Enrolment

Step 1: Guidance and Testing Office

Step 3:  Click “esmis-School Management Information System”.

Step 4:  Select and click course to enroll. 

Step 5:  Read SMU Data Privacy Policy and click “accept”.

Step 6:  Fill-out the online admission form and attach pictures of entrance credentials, then click “submit”.

Step 7:  Check your email for the approved subjects and assessed fees.

Step 8:  Pay tuition fee/down payment through SMU bank accounts (BDO, PNB, BPI or Metrobank) or via Paymaya, GCash, Palawan Express,LBC, JRS, MLhuillier, CEbuana Lhuillier.

Step 9:  Send picture of proof of payment (remittance or bank deposite slip) to treasury@smu.edu.ph or to Saint Mary’s University Accounting Office  m.me/SMUtreasury facebook or messenger account.

Step 10:  Wait for enrolment status/ finalization via email. 

B. FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS

B.1 In-Campus/Walk-in Enrolment

Step 1:  Go to SMU Website (www.smu.edu.ph)

      • Click “esmis-School Management Information System”
      • Select and click program/course to enroll
      • Read SMU Data Privacy Policy and click “accept”
      • Check your email for the approved subjects, assessed fees and payment options.
