SMU Celebrates Business and Accountancy Students at Pinning and Send-Off Ceremony
BAYOMBONG, NUEVA VIZCAYA — Saint Mary’s University (SMU) recently honored students from its School of Accountancy and Business during a Pinning and Send-Off Ceremony on Saturday, September 6, 2025. The event celebrated the accomplishments of BS Accountancy, BS Management Accounting, and BS Business Administration students as they prepare for their professional internships.
The day began with a Eucharistic Mass at the Mary Seat of Wisdom Chapel, followed by the main ceremony at the Sacred Heart Center. The processional was led by students with their parents and guardians, followed by the faculty and the guest speaker.
Dr. Regina D. Ramel, CPA, academic dean of the School of Accountancy and Business, officially opened the ceremony. Ms. Laarni T. Lorenzana, CPA, an alumna of the university, delivered an inspirational message. She emphasized the importance of integrity in the accounting profession, urging students to “stand firm in doing what is right, to remain humble despite achievements, and to treat others with respect.”
The highlight of the event was the Pinning Ceremony, where a total of 64 student-interns received their pins: 34 from BS Accountancy, 26 from BS Management Accounting, and 4 from BS Business Administration. The pins symbolize their dedication, perseverance, and academic accomplishments. Students accepted their pins with pride alongside their parents and guardians.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Mr. John Lindy R. Soriano, CPA, MSA, head of the Accountancy Department.
