SMU Hosts South Intensive Program 2025

Saint Mary’s University (SMU) proudly hosts the South Intensive Program 2025, bringing together 96 faculty coaches, facilitators, and students from various institutions for an enriching academic and cultural exchange. The program runs from February 10 to 21, 2025, with activities held at Bayombong (NVSU and SMU) and ISU-Echague, Isabela.

The activity is participated by 2 HEIs from Belgium, namely Howest University and Vives University; and 6 HEIs from the Philippines, namely SMU, Isabela State University, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, Bicol University, and Camarines Norte State College.

Also present is Ms. Charlotte Christiaens from Global Minds, one of the funding agencies of SIP.

SMU President, Dr. John Octavious S. Palina, delivered the welcome message, followed by a presentation on SMU’s Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO) by Engr. Teofilo Sagabaen. The day’s sessions also included discussions on prototyping and innovation.

The South Intensive Program aims to strengthen collaboration among local higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines, Synergy partners, and international partners from Belgium. This initiative marks the third edition of the program, following its successful runs in 2019 and 2023. 

Through this event, SMU continues to foster academic excellence and sustainable partnerships, reinforcing its commitment to global education and innovation.
