SMU Secures ISO 21001:2018 Certification for Educational Organization Management System

The University has officially achieved ISO 21001:2018 certification for its Educational Organization Management System (EOMS), reinforcing its commitment to quality education and learner-centered organizational processes. The certification was issued on November 24, 2025 by SETSCO Services Pte Ltd and will remain valid until November 23, 2028.

The certification covers the delivery of educational services from basic to higher education levels—affirming the University’s strong governance mechanisms and focus on continuous improvement in teaching and learning. The recognition underscores SMU’s alignment with global standards for educational organizations. 

The successful certification followed a rigorous two-stage assessment by SETSCO Services Pte Ltd. Stage 1 was conducted on May 20, 2025, focusing on documentation review and readiness assessment, while Stage 2 was carried out from August 27 to 29, 2025, examining the implementation of the University’s core, core support, and support processes, and strategic quality assurance initiatives.

ISO 21001:2018 is an international standard tailored for educational organizations . With this milestone, the SMU strengthens its commitment to providing high-quality, relevant, and adaptive education for learners across multiple levels. The certification also aligns with the institution’s long-term strategy of fostering a culture of quality assurance, operational efficiency, and global competitiveness.
