SMU Strengthens Governance and QA at the 2025 PhilEd Conference

From December 3 to 4, 2025, the university was represented at the PhilEd Conference, the country’s premier gathering of educational leaders, administrators, and policy advocates. Organized by the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), the conference convened over 3,500 participants from public and private education sectors to discuss reforms, innovation, and collaboration in Philippine education.

The university delegation comprised Dr. Ma. Cristeta Aduca (Grade School Principal), Dr. Zayda Asuncion (Junior High School Principal), Mr. Melencio Bernardino, Jr. (Senior High School Principal), and Mrs. Pearl Via Coballes (Director, Institutional Development and Quality Assurance Office). Their participation reflects the university’s commitment to quality education, institutional development, and governance excellence.

The 2025 PhilEd Conference, themed “Changing the Narrative of Philippine Education by Making Reforms Work,” focused on:

  • Implementing national reforms to address learning gaps and enhance access and equity.
  • Strengthening public-private collaboration in curriculum, governance, and resource sharing.
  • Reviewing policy updates and PEAC programs that support schools nationwide.
  • Exploring best practices in quality assurance and institutional governance.

Participation in the conference supports the university’s strategic objectives by enhancing quality assurance processes and aligning with national reforms.
