SMU, VIVES University of Applied Sciences Hold Mini Lecture on Sustainability and Circular Economy

Saint Mary’s University (SMU), through the School of Health and Natural Sciences (SHANS), Center for Natural Sciences (CNS), and School of Accountancy and Business (SAB) in partnership with VIVES University of Applied Sciences, Belgium, successfully conducted a mini lecture on “Sustainability and Circular Economy.” The event gathered administrators, faculty, and students in pursuit of advancing academic discourse on sustainability.

The highlight of the event was the lecture proper delivered by Ms. Lies Verstraete, Global Relations Officer of VIVES University, Belgium. In her presentation, Ms. Verstraete emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable practices and transitioning towards a circular economy—an approach that seeks to minimize waste, optimize resources, and foster long-term environmental and economic resilience.

This activity reaffirms Saint Mary’s University’s continuing commitment to international academic collaboration and to fostering responsible and globally competitive leaders who are equipped to address the pressing environmental challenges of the 21st century.
