Two new members added to the roster of The Order of the Golden Rose

On January 10, 2026, Saint Mary’s University (SMU) conferred The Order of the Golden Rose to its two new members during the Gala Night of the General Alumni Homecoming held at the Fr. Cornelius Tonus Gymnasium, SMU Main Campus, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

Mr. Humprey Ian O. Sagabaen, Officer-in-Charge of the Alumni Affairs Office (AAO), nominated the SMU High School Grade School Alumni Association, Inc. 2025, represented by its President, Mrs. Gloria Vicky A. Antonio; and the family of Mr. Mateo O. Tugab.

The conferral was graced by the SMU Administrators led by Dr. John Octavious S. Palina, SMU President, Dr. John G. Tayaban, VP for Administration, Dr. Moises Alexander T. Asuncion, VP for Academic Affairs, and Rev. Fr. Philip A. Yu Jr., CICM, VP for Mission and Identity. 

The Order of the Golden Rose is a community of alumni and friends of SMU who are witnesses to Christian Charity symbolized by the Golden Rose and exemplified by the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus and the University’s Patroness. 

At present, the roster of The Order of the Golden Rose of SMU comprises a total of forty-two members.
