SMU renews status as Center of Excellence in Teacher Education

Saint Mary’s University (SMU) has once again been recognized for its excellence in teacher education. The Department of Education— Teacher Education Council has granted the university a one-year extension of its Center of Excellence status, effective from November 1, 2024, to November 30, 2025.

This renewed recognition underscores SMU’s commitment to producing highly qualified and compassionate educators. The university offers comprehensive programs in teacher education, as well as specialized certifications. These programs are designed to equip aspiring teachers with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to succeed in today’s diverse classrooms.

SMU’s involvement in the SEA Teacher Project provides pre-service teachers with invaluable international experiences, enabling them to develop intercultural competence and global citizenship. This initiative enhances their teaching skills and prepares them for a globalized world.

By combining rigorous academic programs with practical experiences and international opportunities, SMU is empowering its graduates to become innovative and effective educators.
