TAICHUNG, TAIWAN – Saint Mary’s University (SMU) has reaffirmed its commitment to Catholic values and education by actively participating in the 31st Assembly of the Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASEACCU). The conference, held at Providence University in Taiwan, brought together Catholic institutions from across Southeast and East Asia to explore the intersection of faith, service, and spirituality in higher education. SMU President Dr. John Octavious S. Palina and Internationalization Head Dr. Clara Gonzales attended the conference, participating in panel discussions, networking events, and partnership meetings. The university inked landmark agreements with the Catholic University of Korea and Providence University, cementing its dedication to collaborative initiatives that foster academic and spiritual growth among young people. The conference’s theme, “Pilgrims of Hope: Spiritual Development and Action of Gen Z,” underscored the critical need to nurture the spiritual development and social responsibility of the next generation. As a regular member of ASEACCU, SMU is committed to advancing the organization’s mission to promote Catholic education, contribute to meaningful spiritual discussions, and advance internationalization in higher education.
