MSTC brings back YES-O Camp, continues amid rain

The Marian Science and Technology Club (MSTC) hosted the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) and Scouting Movement Camp, held at the SMU Junior High School grounds on October 10-11, marking the culmination of the SciNaG Festival.

The camp kicked off with a socialization night, which began with the lighting of the campfire while singing the popular “Camp Fires Burning,” and the presentation of team yells.

Due to the unexpected rain, the campers took shelter and transferred their tents to the corridors around the campus.

The Junior Marian Emergency Response Team (JMERT) and some teachers roamed the buildings, ensuring the campers’ safety.

Team-building activities were conducted the following day, which allowed the campers to explore and learn practical skills related to good health and well-being, camaraderie, and environmental awareness.

Moreover, the campers also listened to a talk delivered by Mr. Edwin N. Mutug, Head of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines–Nueva Vizcaya Chapter, which underscored scout discipline.

The camp is the university’s way of implementing the Department of Education’s YES-O Camp, which is based on DO 72, s. 2003.
