Center for Natural Sciences Holds Science Caravan at BNHS

The School of Health and Natural Sciences- Center for Natural Sciences (CNS) conducted the “CNS on Wheels: The Science Exploratorium Caravan” at Bintawan National High School on March 11, 2026, engaging STEM students in interactive science learning activities. The said activity, which is one of the flagship projects of the Center for Natural Sciences, was spearheaded by Ms. Arcelle May Novida and Ms. Aila Laurice Panganiban under the guidance of Dr. Elsa Cajucom, CNS Director, and Dr. Christopher Allen Marquez, CEIPSC Director.

The CNS team was warmly welcomed by Mr. Amadeo B. Dulay, Principal of Bintawan National High School, and  Ma’am Elanalyn B. Taleon, Master Teacher II, who expressed their support for initiatives that promote science learning among students.

Carrying the theme “Unlocking Wonders: From Theory to Experiment,” the outreach program aimed to promote scientific curiosity by combining lectures with hands-on laboratory experiments.

The lecture sessions were delivered by CNS faculty members, including Mr. Renz Gil Medina, who discussed “The Invisible Universe: Microbes that Control our World” and “Inside Life: Frog Dissection and Vertebrae Anatomy.” Mr. David Gayadang and Mrs. Juliet Villanueva presented “Principles of Chemical Analysis,” while Mrs. Gloria Vicky A. Antonio introduced students to basic physics concepts through her lecture “The Switch is On: Exploring Electrical Flow.”

Students also participated in various hands-on activities such as microscope observation, frog dissection, chemical analysis, and physics-based demonstrations. The sessions were facilitated by CNS faculty and staff together with BS Biology students.

The caravan provided participants with the opportunity to experience practical scientific methods and apply concepts learned in the classroom through guided experiments and demonstrations. During the sharing session, students also expressed their insights about the experience. Althea Loraine Llantada, a Grade 12 STEM student, shared that as a science enthusiast, she enjoyed the activities and was able to deepen her knowledge through the hands-on experiments. Meanwhile, Jhan Riel Placido, a Grade 11 STEM student, mentioned that the activities helped him realize how science is applicable in real life, adding that he particularly enjoyed the frog dissection activity.

Through this initiative, the Center for Natural Sciences continues to expand science education outreach by bringing experiential learning activities to schools and encouraging students to explore careers in science.
