SciNag Fest Speaks Out for Global Issues, Highlights 7 SDGs

The SciNag Festival of Saint Mary’s University Junior High School & Science High School united Junior Marians to raise awareness of pressing global issues, held at the Fr. Tonus Gymnasium on September 30.
Grade 7 students performed a call to preserve all forms of life, showcasing SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 15: Life on Land. With the use of vibrant colors, their performances stood out, accompanied by cheers from their seniors.
Meanwhile, Grade 8 students highlighted the importance of environmental preservation, showcasing SDG 6: clean water and sanitation, and SDG 13: climate action. The section “Ecologists” stood out with their take on the performance, featuring a Moana-inspired piece that called for the care of Mother Earth, much like the movie.
Grade 9 called for health, showcasing SDG 3: good health and well-being. They took the stage with a performance focused on exercise, calling for all humanity to stay healthy.
Lastly, Grade 10 emphasized the need for preparation for any potential disaster, highlighting the risk of disaster casualties. Their performances stood out for the use of hard hats and neon vests, an indication of readiness to help.
Beyond the Scinag beats performances, students also participated in academic contests, such as Sci-Henyo, a quiz competition for science enthusiasts, and Sci-Tok, a short informative video aimed at a younger audience to spark interest in science.
The Scinag Festival is not only about performances and awards, but also a call for action. Through performances linked to the SDGs, the event intended to inspire students to face real-world problems ahead.
