Marian alumnus receives Order of the Golden Rose

On February 10, 2023, a 1967 graduate of the Saint Marys’ University High School (formerly SMCHS) received The Order of the Golden Rose Award at the University Boardroom, SMU Main Campus.
Dr. Christopher M. Guerrero is a medical doctor by profession and has received various awards for his charitable works here in the Philippines and abroad.
Guerrero was among the second batch conferred with the said award for his support to the University’s Scholarship Program through his Guerrero Family Scholarship in 2018 but was not able to attend said ceremony as he was abroad.
The awarding was graced by the SMU Administrators led by Dr. John Octavious S. Palina, SMU President, Dr. John G. Tayaban, VP for Administration; Dr. Moises Alexander T. Asuncion, VP for Academic Affairs, Rev. Fr. Philip A. Yu, VP for Mission and Identity; and Mr. Samuel B. Damayon, Officer-In-Charge of the Alumni Affairs and Dean of the Student Affairs and Services.
Guerrero was accompanied by his brother, Ben Guerrero, and Jack Bertolino, MD. Two of his former scholars were also present during his awarding namely, Wilson R. Manuel Jr., BSECE Batch 2020, and Jayson L. Lopez, BSEE Batch 2018.
The Order of the Golden Rose is a community of alumni and friends of SMU who are witnesses to Christian Charity symbolized by the Golden Rose and exemplified by the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus and the University’s Patroness. #
