SMU Welcomes new Chaplain

Fr. Nemesio “Nemé” Huesca, CICM is the newest addition to the Marian family. Previous to his new appointment as University Chaplain of Saint Mary’s University, he spent 18 years (1995-2012) in Brazil in various CICM mission areas. In the Philippines, he was sent to Mission Centers: Maryhill, Maryshore, and Marymount. He served in various capacities in CICM Ad-intra work as novice and postulant director. He has been assigned to various places like Taytay, Rizal; Baguio City, Talisay City, Agusan del Norte, and Agusan del Sur.
In his 38 years in CICM, Fr. Nemé says that one of the basic principles of CICM is for us to go where we are most needed, and the next stop in my journey as a missionary is at SMU, where he shall primarily attend to the spiritual needs of the university’s pupils and students, employees, alumni, and other stakeholders.
On August 26, Fr. Philip Yu, CICM, SMU Vice President for Mission and Identity formally presented Fr. Nemé to the University President, Dr. John Octavious Palina.
What message do you think will resound in your new designation as chaplain of a CICM university? “Building hearts with a hopeful heart, not hurts.”
We welcome Fr. Nemé with Marian greetings and best wishes in his new designation!
