SMU-HTM Sets Global Standard: Tourism Students Secure International Front Office Certification
SMU’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Department (SMU-HTM) celebrates Senior Tourism students Mr. Rodolfo Lim III and Miss Kyneshie Dalpig for earning the Certified Front Desk Representative (CFDR) designation. Developed by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), this prestigious credential is the global benchmark for front-office excellence.
Following an intensive training from April 7–10, 2026, the students mastered essential guest services and operational skills. This milestone was achieved through the mentorship of Department Head Mr. John Michael C. Ibarra, reflecting SMU-HTM’s commitment to producing industry-ready leaders.
By bridging the gap between classroom theory and international standards, SMU-HTM continues to “Inspire, Innovate, and Influence,” contributing directly to the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing students with the technical and vocational skills essential for professional employment. Furthermore, it supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by enhancing the global competitiveness of the tourism workforce, ensuring graduates are prepared to thrive in the international hospitality market.
