Saint Mary’s University (SMU) joined Yokohama Tire Philippines, Inc. in celebrating its 30th anniversary on April 16, 2026, at Shangri-La the Fort, marking three decades of the company’s operations and contributions in the country.

The event gathered partners, stakeholders, and guests to recognize YTPI’s milestones and ongoing initiatives. Representing SMU were University President John Octavious S. Palina, Vice President for Mission and Identity Rev. Fr. Philip A. Yu Jr., CICM, and YTPI Scholarship Coordinator Eufrecia Lucas.

SMU and YTPI formalized their partnership in 2019, focusing on expanding access to higher education through scholarship support. Under the program, YTPI grants five full scholarship slots to qualified students, assisting their academic and professional development.

The anniversary celebration highlighted YTPI’s continued commitment to corporate partnerships and social responsibility. For SMU, the event underscored the role of industry-academic collaboration in expanding student opportunities and advancing workforce development.
