SMU Elevates National Presence: BOAE Department Head Inducted as PACSB National Director

Saint Mary’s University continues to shine on the national academic stage. On June 13, 2026, Ms. Sheryl A. Adducul-Baria, Department Head of Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, and Office Administration, was officially inducted as a National Director of the Philippine Association of Collegiate Schools of Business (PACSB) at the Acacia Hotel, Alabang.
The strategic planning and induction ceremony was anchored on the theme, “Inspiring Change, Empowering Futures: Leading Business Education with Purpose and Innovation.” The event marks a significant milestone for SMU, placing a Marian educator at the forefront of policy-making and strategic direction for over 300 private and state higher education institutions in the country.
Guest speaker and inducting officer Francisco “Paco” Magsaysay, founder of Carmen’s Best Ice Cream, shared his journey of choosing entrepreneurship over his family’s political legacy. He urged the new officers to lead using four core principles: anchoring themselves in a clear purpose, finding growth and lessons within adversity (resilience), creatively maximizing available resources rather than focusing on limitations (innovation), and showing up to do the hard work even when it gets difficult (commitment).
The program highlighted a leadership transition as outgoing President Dr. Amado Magsino passed the torch to the incoming president from Southville International School and Colleges, who immediately introduced a roadmap to better align classroom instruction with evolving corporate industries. Supported by longtime corporate and publishing partners like the PMA and CMIP, the event marked another milestone for the 64-year-old PACSB. Through Ms. Adducul-Baria’s new national role, Saint Mary’s University reaffirms its dedication to strengthening business education and developing future-ready leaders nationwide.
This collective effort directly advances United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by driving curriculum innovation across tertiary institutions, and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by equipping the next generation with industry-aligned skills and entrepreneurial mindsets.
