SMU-HTM Sustains Its Legacy of Excellence with Tourism Students Attaining International Front Office Certification

The Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) Department of Saint Mary’s University proudly announces the accomplishment of Miss Krizyl Joy C. Nague and Miss Al Jane S. Mendoza, who successfully earned the Certified Front Desk Representative (CFDR) certification from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) on June 3, 2026.
As a globally recognized credential in front-office operations, the CFDR certification equips hospitality professionals with essential competencies in guest service, communication, reservations management, and front desk procedures. This achievement exemplifies the students’ dedication to professional development, adherence to international hospitality standards, and readiness to excel in a competitive global industry.
This milestone further highlights the HTM Department’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and industry relevance under the leadership of Mr. John Michael C. Ibarra, Department Head. Through initiatives promoting professional certifications and experiential learning, the department continues to empower students to seize opportunities that enhance both their academic experience and career readiness.
Guided by the HTM 3Is—We Inspire, We Innovate, We Influence—every Marian HTM student is encouraged to envision excellence, embrace innovation, and lead by example. These principles shape their professional presence, inspiring and influencing others wherever they are connected. Certified. Competent. Globally Ready.
Moreover, this accomplishment reinforces Saint Mary’s University’s dedication to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by fostering experiential and skills-based learning that cultivates student growth. Concurrently, it supports Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by preparing a new generation of skilled, globally competitive professionals poised to contribute to the sustainable advancement of the tourism and hospitality sector.
