BAYOMBONG, NUEVA VIZCAYA — September 15, 2026 — Demonstrating cross-disciplinary academic excellence and digital leadership, Saint Mary’s University (SMU) presented Project 4Pause at the Tourism Governance Seminar held today at Ammungan Hall inside the Capitol Compound. Tapped by the Provincial Tourism and Culture Office (PTCO) as one of the highlights of the Nueva Vizcaya Tourism Month Celebration 2026, the initiative showcases a powerful collaborative synergy within the university, being jointly supported and backed by the School of Accountancy and Business (SAB) and the Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) Department. 

Centered on the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence,” the main presentation was delivered by project team lead Christian Josh B. Acosta.  Recognized as the Region 2 representative by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for national vetting in May 2026, Project 4Pause illustrated how modern tech solutions can optimize local resources. Addressing delegates and officers from various municipal tourism departments across the province, Acosta detailed how integrating smart digital tools equips local destinations for an innovative, tech-driven future. 

The presentation offered a comprehensive look into regional heritage preservation and policy innovation then the session transitioned into an interactive open forum. The seminar concluded with closing remarks delivered by the PTCO officer,  Ms. Marichelle O. Costales. 

SMU’s active participation directly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The interdisciplinary initiative advances Quality Education (SDG 4) through hands-on, tech-focused experiential learning, while driving Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9) by embedding digital tools into regional tourism operations. Additionally, by supporting local heritage preservation and fostering strong multi-agency collaboration, the project reinforces Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) alongside the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya and municipal units
