SMU Top 16 Finalists in Regional Philippine Startup Competition

Three teams from Saint Mary’s University (SMU)—VAWCare, Anicon, and Unify—secured spots among the Top 16 finalists out of 93 entries in the regional round of the Philippine Startup Competition. The strong performance of the SMU team highlights the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence. Each team was composed of three student innovators, guided by faculty mentors Ms. Rocel Audrey Batara and Ms. Krby Zyryll Perez.
Team Anicon was represented by Pamela Ann Aseron, Kristine Shiela Villalobos, and Mark Daves Baltazar.
Team VAWCare included Ethan Jericho Salvador, Kevin Klein Ananayo, and Me Jouy Paspie.
Team Unify was presented by Czar Reenjit Javarata, Zeann Lloyd Palma, and Prince Glenn Arcega.
In addition to making it to the Top 16, Team Anicon earned the Best Logo Award, extending SMU’s consistent record of excellence in this category.
The event underscored the dedication of organizers and regional partners to developing future innovators. DICT Region 2 remains steadfast in nurturing young innovators and in strengthening a vibrant startup ecosystem across Cagayan Valley and the entire nation, creating opportunities for students to grow, collaborate, and evolve as future leaders in technology.
