SMU-CJED faculty members make waves at National Forensic Science Training

Three esteemed faculty members from Saint Mary’s University’s Criminal Justice Education Department (CJED) recently brought honor to the institution by excelling at the 15th National Forensic Science Specialization Training organized by the Philippine Criminalistics Society, Inc. (PhilCSI).

Held from December 1 to 8, 2024 in Baguio City, the intensive training program attracted top-tier academicians and practitioners from various sectors across the Philippines.

Ms. Joelyne Espiritu secured second place in the Advanced Forensic Dactyloscopy Specialization Course, achieving an impressive aggregate average of 96.80%. She also placed second in the Oral Defense as an Expert Witness for Forensic Dactyloscopy, earning a score of 96%.

Ms. Esthyre Kate Bayangan topped the Advanced Questioned Document Private Practice Course with an aggregate average of 93%. She also topped the Oral Defense as an Expert Witness for Forensic Questioned Documents with a grade of 96%.

Mr. Isagani Foronda Jr. claimed second place in the Advanced Forensic Photography course with an aggregate average of 93.15%.

The exceptional performance of these faculty members underscores SMU’s unwavering commitment to providing top-tier education and training in the field of forensic science. Their achievements not only enhance the university’s reputation but also contribute significantly to the advancement of forensic science in the Philippines.
