Building Future Hospitality Leaders: SMU-HTM Conducts Industry Partners Visit in Nueva Vizcaya

Strengthening academic-industry collaboration and advancing experiential learning, the Hospitality and Tourism Management programs of Saint Mary’s University conducted a visit to partner training establishments in Nueva Vizcaya on May 5, 2026.

Led by Practicum Instructors Miss Rowena Vennessa C. Gayagoy and Mr. Mark Ian J. Soriano, the visit aimed to strengthen institutional partnerships and monitor students’ industry immersion experiences.

The delegation first visited Travelesque Travel Agency, owned and managed by Patricia Mae Millor, where a Certificate of Recognition and a token were formally received by the agency’s staff, Miss Ivy Veronica V. Velasquez and Miss Ayessa Joy D. Nuñez in appreciation of their continued partnership with SMU-HTM. 

The second visit was conducted at MM Fariñas Travel and Tours, owned and managed by Mr. Rolando A. Fariñas, where a token of gratitude and Certificate of Recognition were likewise presented in recognition of the agency’s invaluable support in student training and development. 

The final visit took place at 24/7 Inn and Resort, where Manager Nerissa N. Parungao received the Certificate of Recognition and a token from SMU-HTM. Industry partners expressed positive feedback regarding the students’ professionalism, adaptability, and commendable work ethic during their internship training.

On May 9, 2026, Miss Rowena Vennessa C. Gayagoy conducted a visit to Sofia Hotel, owned by Mr. Ruperth M. Santos. During the visit, tokens of appreciation and certificates of recognition were awarded to the hotel management and staff, particularly Ms. Jhoan Marie Fronda and Mr. Emil John Lumanga, in recognition of their continued support and partnership with the practicum program.

Subsequently, on May 12, 2026, Mrs. Barby P. Santos shared positive feedback regarding the performance and professionalism of the practicum interns. She also formally endorsed the students’ evaluations and awarded their certificates, signifying the successful completion of their training engagement.

This initiative reflects SMU’s dedication to advancing quality education, promoting decent work opportunities and sustainable economic growth, and strengthening global and industry partnerships aligned with the United Nations’ Tourism Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
