Saint Mary’s University shines at the 16th Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Week

Saint Mary’s University (SMU) continues to distinguish itself in the field of Hospitality and Tourism at the 16th Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism (HRT) Week and the 14th National Food Showdown held in Baguio City from September 21 to 23, 2023.

Led by the Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) department, a delegation of 50 students, guided by their professors and supported by invited alumni practitioners from the industry, participated in a series of events.

Despite fierce competition from other reputable HTM schools across the Philippines, both in the professional and student divisions, the SMU-HTM delegation emerged triumphant, securing several awards over the three-day event. The competitions covered various aspects of hospitality and tourism management aligned with the theme, “Malakas at Maganda”: The Surge of Philippine Cuisine.

Apart from the competitions, the students attended several seminars, providing them with valuable insights and knowledge in the field. The event was organized by the Hotel & Restaurant Association  of Baguio (HRAB), where SMU is an active member, regularly taking part in events and seminars.

Saint Mary’s University brought one (1) Gold Medal (Highest Pointer), four (4) Silver Medals, 11 Bronze Medals, and five (5) Diploma Awards.
