SMU welcomes KCP for benchmarking on International Rankings

Saint Maryโ€™s University hosted a benchmarking visit by King’s College of the Philippines-Bambang, Inc. (KCP) on March 20, 2025, at the SMU University Boardroom. The visit aimed to discuss SMUโ€™s achievements in global rankings and best practices in academic excellence. The KCP delegation was led by Dr. Ely Jose F. As-il, KCP President, along with his four team members.

The program started with a welcome message from SMU President Dr. John Octavious S. Palina, followed by a response from Dr. As-il. Dr. Clara Gonzales then presented an overview of SMU and its Global Rankings.

Key discussions highlighted SMUโ€™s achievements in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) rankings. Dr. Darwin Don Dacles shared insights on WURI Methodology, while Dr. Edwin Edilberto Mania discussed SMUโ€™s recognition in Student Support and Engagement, where SMU secured the Top 4 position.

Mrs. Rhodora Tipay presented SMUโ€™s ranking in the Entrepreneurial Spirit category, where the university earned a Top 9 spot, and Dr. Christopher Allen Marquez concluded the presentations with insights on SMUโ€™s achievement in Social Responsibility, ranking Top 21.

The program concluded with an Open Forum where both institutions exchanged ideas on enhancing academic programs and fostering student success. This benchmarking initiative reflects SMUโ€™s commitment to sustainable leadership and global excellence.
