SMU’s Tinig Arkitektura Production Wins Best Social Impact Award at the Makaindang Filmmaking Competition

Tinig Arkitektura Production of Saint Mary’s University (SMU) earned recognition at the provincial Cine Kabataan Filmmaking Competition: “Makaindag (It Can Wait)”, receiving the Best Social Impact Award for their film entitled, “Boses ng Kinabukasan.” The awarding ceremony took place last March 26, 2026 at Highlander Resort and Hotel, Solano, bringing together student filmmakers from various Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) and youth organizations from across Nueva Vizcaya.
With the theme “Choices and Consequences,” the competition highlights the importance of informed decision-making among young individuals.The competition followed a two-phase process where entries underwent screening last November 7, 2025 with selected participants advancing to film production for the final round. As part of the National Women’s Month 2026 celebration, finalists were invited to the awarding ceremony held on March 26, 2026, at Highlander Resort and Hotel in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.
“Boses ng Kinabukasan” was recognized for its clear message and its contribution to raising awareness on pressing societal issues. tells the story of Hanna, a young student navigating the challenges of adolescence, family expectations, and an unplanned pregnancy. Through a series of letters written to her future self, the film explores themes of fear, responsibility, and hope. The narrative takes a reflective turn as these letters are later read by her daughter, offering a deeper perspective on generational understanding, accountability, and forgiveness.
The production was led by Kimberly Claire Mahor as the director, with scriptwriters Juliet Bino-e and Frances Gwen Barrozo, supported by a dedicated cast and crew. Their work reflects the growing participation of student-led groups in initiatives that use film as a platform for education and social advocacy.
