Saint Mary’s University (SMU) proudly congratulates Miss Rocel Audrey J. Batara, Head of the Information, Computer, Library and Mathematical Sciences (ICLMS) department, for her latest international research publication in a Scopus-indexed Q2 journal, further strengthening the University’s commitment to research excellence and global academic collaboration.

Miss Batara co-authored the research article entitled “Sexual Harassment Early Warning System Using Deep Learning,” which was published in Procedia Computer Science (Elsevier) and became available online on July 17, 2026.

The study is the product of an international collaboration among researchers from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (Indonesia), Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jawa Timur (Indonesia), and Saint Mary’s University (Philippines). The research explores the application of deep learning and artificial intelligence in developing an early warning system capable of detecting potential incidents of sexual harassment through intelligent data analysis.

By leveraging advanced machine learning techniques, the study contributes to the development of technology-driven solutions that promote safer educational and organizational environments. It also demonstrates the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in addressing complex social issues while supporting preventive interventions.

Miss Batara’s publication highlights the growing international research presence of Saint Mary’s University and reflects the University’s strategic thrust toward innovation, interdisciplinary research, and meaningful global partnerships. Her accomplishment likewise inspires faculty members and students to pursue high-quality research that addresses real-world challenges through science and technology.
